Sleep Study Results Explained in Los Angeles & Beverly Hills
Understand what a home sleep apnea report can and cannot tell you, including estimated apnea-hypopnea index, oxygen patterns, pulse, sleep time and device-estimated sleep stages.
AHI and breathing events
The apnea-hypopnea index estimates the number of breathing interruptions per hour. Your physician interprets this in the context of your symptoms and overall health.
Oxygen and heart rate
Overnight oxygen saturation and pulse measurements can add context to breathing-related findings, but do not diagnose every cause of disturbed sleep.
Light, deep and REM sleep estimates
WatchPAT sleep-stage estimates are algorithm-derived and are not equivalent to the full EEG measurements of in-laboratory polysomnography.
Your next step
A clinician reviews the findings and advises whether CPAP/APAP treatment, further workup or an in-lab referral is appropriate.
